Dragon reading a book

Welcome to the Cascadia library, where we love to learn and read! Our mission is to foster a love of reading while also supporting students as they develop information literacy skills. Ms. Bodmer will work Monday-Thursday and every other Friday during the 2023-2024 school year. All classes will visit the library during the week and attend 1 technology class a month. Pre-K classes will visit the library every other week.

Students can have up to 10 books checked out at a time. There is a 2 book limit on graphic novels and popular series. Books intended for a Global Reading Challenge, a school project or an assignment do not count towards the 10 book limit.

Accessing the Library Catalog

Students can log in to Destiny Discover (our school library catalog) or though Clever. They can view their current checkouts and holds under the tab “my stuff.” If students wish to place a hold, they can do that in person during library class or at lunch recess.

Library Open at Recess

Students with a library pass may visit the library during lunch recess 2-3 times/week. This year the library is open Tuesday, Thursday and every other Friday. Students can read, check out books or play quiet games like puzzles, card games, snap circuits, spirograph and other engaging STEM activities.

Award Book Challenge

Each year the Washington State Library Association and the Northwest Library Association nominate chapter books for students to read and vote on. 3rd graders are challenged to read 10 of the books and 4th and 5th graders are challenged to read 12 of them. Each time they finish a book, they should fill out a form (found on Schoology). Students who complete the challenge earn a spot at the June celebration with root beer floats! This years book lists can be found below. Students can mix and match from the lists.
