    Martin Luther King Jr Assembly

On Wednesday at Community Meeting our Student Council created and presented our Martin Luther King Jr. Assembly. Students from across the grades on Student Council worked together to create the assembly. We learned all about Dr. King's early life on through his work with the Civil Rights Movement and up to his death. One interesting fact I did not know before was that his name was Michael when he was born and that after a trip to Germany his father changed his own name to Martin and then also his sons name.

The kids also performed two skits about his life and read a portion of his "I Have a Dream" speech. It was wonderful to have the students be so involved in the creation and execution of the assembly. I think everyone learned a lot!
